Tattoos can be many things to many people. They can have deep personal meaning, or they may be the result of one too many shots of tequila and a dare from Brad. You remember him. That guy you always avoided in school. Why did you let him talk you into a tattoo? The fact is even tattoos conceived in loving consideration can go horribly wrong with the wrong placement and a little time and gravity. Here are three body parts you should leave unmarked for the sake of your dignity.

1. Stomach Tattoos

Do you remember the joy of playing with silly putty as a kid? You could take the face of your favorite comic character and stretch them to outrageous proportions. Everyone laughed, good times were had all around. But you can see where this is going.

You’re going to get older, and odds are you’re also going to get fatter. Young women, you may one day experience the miracle of childbirth. Young men, you may one day experience the miracle of beer and dollar taco night at the bar. Regardless, as your stomach expands, the silly putty that is your living skin stretches and distorts to fit your girth, dragging your awesome tattoo with it. Even if you lose the weight, the damage is done. Unless you’re trying to cover your stretch marks by tattooing tiger stripes over them, avoid stomach tattoos.

2. Chest Tattoos

The chest area remains a popular destination for only the most classy of tattoos. Misspelled phrases, unicorns, fairies…you name it, they can be found forever marked on the chests of the young and young at heart. Unfortunately, they’re prone to the same, ahem, expansion problems as stomach tattoos. Women, if you’re ever pregnant or gain weight, odds are your boobs are going to look radically different than they did beforehand. Even if you never have children and remain a perfect size 6 until the day you die, gravity will have its way with you.

3. Neck Tattoos

The times, they are a-changin’. Having a highly visible tattoo is no longer the death of your hopes and dreams for a real job. That doesn’t mean your new neck tattoo comes without risk. As you age, your skin loses elasticity and relaxes. Instead of staying taut and firm over your body, it begins to sag and drape around you, much like that pair of underwear you’ve been wearing since freshman year. Your wicked tat will end up crumpled and lifeless, like a flag on a windless day.

The 8-bit design first surfaced in 2011, with over 27 million YouTube views and several spin-off videos, commercials, and video games. The original video shows Nyan Cat flying through outer space to a repetitive 8-bit tune. Whether it is because it is adorable, unusual, or just crazy, many people have added Nyan Cat to their bodies.

Trollface and Other Ragemaker Tattoos

The most common Internet meme, Trollface is the symbol of online trolling. Complete with a mischievous grin, Trollface portrays the look that people make when they are intentionally fooling others online. It first appeared in a comic produced on deviantArt in 2008 and commonly appears in Rage Comics. Many of the other rapidly appearing Rage Faces do not have names, but express common looks, such as the poker face, yawning, acting like a sir or lady, thank you or me gusta, or being very upset. Because they depict a wide range of emotions, Rage Faces and Trollface have become popular tattoos.

The Cake Is a Lie Tattoos

Popularized by the video game Portal, “the cake is a lie” is a phrase often heard when browsing memes. The meaning is a gift that is promised to motivate someone into doing something; however, there is no intent on delivering the gift. The saying often represents unobtainable goals with no payout. In the 2007 video game, players work through a series of puzzles and experiments under the impression that after the testing is complete there will be cake, which is never actually given to the player.

It also helps you present a coherent image to everyone else which is a help since we know that other people do form an opinion of you on the way you dress; deciding on your style is actually pretty easy.

Start by getting rid of anything you have that seems to best fit the personality and person that you were five years ago and then ask yourself a few questions about your current lifestyle. For instance if you are a stockbroker that works 18 hour days then your wardrobe needs will be vastly different from someone like a D.J.

Read on to find a few suggestions on how to find the perfect theme to help carry you from work to play.

If you find yourself drawn towards earth tones, pastels and whites then you probably fall into the preppy category; don’t worry this is really not a bad thing as “preps” usually portray themselves as stable and well rounded individuals. For this style you need items such as oxford shirts, pressed khaki pants, blazers, argyle sweaters and polo shirts to pull of the complete look.

While a more classic style does overlap some with the preppy look the classic tends to lean towards a more French traditional style of dress. So if you tend to favor black, white, navy, gray and camel you will probably be best suited for this look and to help pull it off you will need items like immaculately cut suits, silk ties, white dress shirts, scarves, wool coats that are knee length and cashmere sweaters in your wardrobe.

You may be consider trendsetters if you live, eat and breathe fashion and tend to be sure to keep up with the latest labels and are not afraid to take a few risks when it comes to fashion. The trendsetter tends to change their look a lot constantly reinventing themselves; while this is not the easiest theme to perfect it can be done. As far as any particular pieces to keep in your wardrobe just look for anything that you think is about to be big.

Do not worry about it if your style seems to fall into more than one category as that is exactly what makes you unique; however, if your style seems to be all over the place and you have got several items from different categories that could be a sign that you have a difficult time putting outfits together. When you define your own style it makes it easier to shop and easier to get out the door and on with your life.
