Popular opinion appears to sway towards Romney actually dominating most aspects of the debate; from preparation in order to be ready to command the issues that face our country, to his strong body language and even discussing the needs of individual families.
Many experts have said that he was obviously in control and made a commanding presence with regard to body language; meaning he never changed his demeanor in any way, kept his eyes on President Obama on every exchange and never displayed any type of a dismayed expression or any (disrespectful) eye-rolls.
On the other hand it has been said that President Obama did not appear to have the same control or commanding presence that Mr. Romney displayed. He seemed to look out over the audience more as if he were seeking support or some kind of guidance during Mitt Romney’s answers. He could often be seen smirking, looking irritated or disapproving. He never even looked at his opponent during an answer. Critics have even commented on his sartorial choice of wearing a blue tie that had small dots on it; Romney wore the traditional “power” tie of red stripes.
At the end of the debate Mitt Romney did direct one “zinger” at Obama stating “Mr. President, you’re entitled to your own plane and your own house, but you’re not entitled to your own facts.” But, perhaps it was summed up the best by Bill Maher who said “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter”.
